Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony: Sunday, September 8, 2 - 4 pm
A juried show of 2D and 3D artwork inspired by or interpretations of the theme, Arrivals and Departures features works from artists 18 years and older residing in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan. All works are of the artists’ original concepts and designs and have been chosen by a panel of art professionals from outside of the Chippewa Valley. Please join us for a reception on Sunday, September 8 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Our Show Judge, Barry Roal Carlsen, will present awards at 3:00 PM for Best of Show, First, Second and Third Places, as well as a number of sponsored awards.

About the Show Judge: Barry Roal Carlsen
Barry Roal Carlsen holds a BFA from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Carlsen worked as senior artist in the UW Communications Office for 30 years. He has also taught printmaking in the UW and Edgewood College art departments as well as teaching design at Madison College. Carlsen has a long history of involvement in printmaking, graphic arts, painting in oil, acrylic, and encaustic media. He also designs and builds all of his frames using a variety of hardwoods. Carlsen is the co-founder of Vox Populi Print Collective which seeks to elevate, celebrate, and promote fine art printmaking in the US and abroad. He has been a visiting artist, juror and lecturer at a number of universities and art centers. Carlsen has received numerous grants and awards and his work has been exhibited nationally and in Europe. His artwork can be found in private, public, corporate, and museum collections, including the Chazen Art Museum, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Meriter Hospital, Rayovac, the Progressive Corporation, the Wisconsin DNR headquarters and Governor’s Mansion.
