The Annual Spring Art Show highlights the talents of local artists by two and three-dimensional art pieces by artists – from young and old, novice to experienced. It is always a diverse and wonderful show. The non-juried exhibition includes original paintings, sculptures, photos, stained glass, mosaics, ceramics and other creative art forms.
This is an usual year - to say the least - and the Chippewa Herald along with the Heyde Center for the Arts are trying something completely new to us in order to "make lemonade" out of the lemons that this pandemic has handed us. The virtual art show has both pros and cons. The cons are that it is much better to be present to talk to the artists directly, to view their artwork in the galleries rather than on a screen, and to experience the exhibit with others; however, this is not possible this year so we will move to a virtual exhibit.
The pros are that we have video-recorded interviews with nearly all of the participating artists that can be viewed at your convenience on our Facebook page, our website or on our YouTube page. In addition, the Heyde Center will be adding the artwork that is for sale to our "Shop" tab so you can purchase artwork online or by phone. Also, we will have more time to more intensely promote each artist on a variety of social media platforms for a much wider reach than ever before.
There will be ten pages of interviews, artwork, and bios of the artists featured in this year's show. Please download the entire Spring Art Show Brochure and Price List. The awards will be announced later in the week.
