Dinner in the Orchard (Rescheduled to 2021)
....a culinary collaboration with Bushel and a Peck
Tue, Aug 11, 2020 - 6:00 pm
Due to a lack of ticket sales during this crazy time of COVID-19, we are rescheduling this event for August of 2021. We regret any inconvenience that this has caused.
Experience a delicious farm-fresh dinner and a stunning view overlooking rows of apple trees in the rolling hills of Chippewa County with orchard owners Lisa and Wayne Geist. Bushel and a Peck orchard is situated on a scenic ridge separating the Chippewa River Valley and the Eau Claire River Valley. The orchard was started over a century ago and now includes over 20,000 trees producing over 30 varieties of apples. The orchard adheres to ecology-based growing practices that promote soil and tree health, nurture pollinators, and protect biodiversity. In addition, the orchard has currant plantings, raspberries and a pumpkin patch. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with drinks and a walking or a wagon ride tour of the farm. Wayne and Lisa will be on hand to talk about the orchard and offer some behind the scene insights about a working apple orchard. At 7:00 p.m., guests will gather around the farm table for a dinner of charcoal chicken hot off the grill, fresh grilled corn on the cob, Waldorf salad, buttery baby red potatoes and homemade cornbread with honey butter. After dinner, guests will move to the fire pit for live music and a bonfire under a ceiling of stars not visible in the city. Casual attire and sturdy walking shoes recommended, but provisions will be available for people with mobility limitations. Rain date: Wednesday, August 12 at 6:00 p.m.
Cost is $45/person, which includes:
· dinner and non-alcoholic beverages such as water, coffee/tea, and light sodas.
· live music around a cozy bonfire
· all in a beautiful and serene orchard setting.
Additional beverages (beer and wine) can be purchased at the orchard.
