Art Creation: August 1 – December 31, 2021
With over 300 acres of natural and scenic beauty, Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls offers a zoo with wildlife and a petting zoo, scenic dam, museum, picnic shelters, restrooms and historical displays. Take a tour of the Sunny Valley Schoolhouse or Pioneer Norwegian Log Home on the weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Also take in a natural historical marker, the Irvine Park Cave, which is about 20 feet long with natural springs running through it. In the winter enjoy the Christmas Village, open from Thanksgiving to New Years. With over 100 displays and 100,000 lights it is a great sight to see.
The Heyde Center for the Arts and the Chippewa Falls Parks and Recreation Department are collaborating to host their first Visual Art Creation Event called “Celebrating Irvine Park through Art” to encourage people to visit Irvine Park and actively capture the wonder and beauty of the Park through an artistic prism. To participate in Celebrating Irvine Park through Art, artists are required to paint, sculpt, or sketch while in the park so that artists can interact, inspire, and share their artistic vision with park visitors.
Artists submitting their work for this visual art creation event will be qualified to exhibit their art work at the Heyde Center for the Arts from February 23 to March 9, 2022. The top five artworks will receive a prize. Four of the prizes will be chosen by a judging panel of people from the CF Parks and Recreation Department and from the Heyde Center for the Arts. The fifth prize will be a chosen by visitors to the exhibit through popular vote.
(1) Youth under the age of 12 - 1st place winner gets a behind the scenes tour of the Irvine Park Zoo (up to ten people)
(2) General Public - top three entries
1st Place winner – winner’s artwork exhibited at the Irvine Park Visitor's Center summer of 2022
2nd Place winner - one free shelter reservation (excludes Main Pavilion and Activity Shelter)
3rd Place winner - two adult tickets of winner’s choice to a Heyde Center event in 2022
(3) People's choice winner - $25 Chamber Bucks and bragging rights
Open to all artists, Celebrating Irvine Park through Art requires that any artists submitting their artwork to the event must create their work of art in the park. There is no age limitation, but photographic proof must be submitted to show the artist created their artwork in Irvine Park. The application process will open on August 15, 2021 and end on January 14, 2022.

Each artist must also submit 3-5 images of each work of art in JPEG format with a resolution of no less than 600 DPI as part of the application process.
All artwork must be completed in the Irvine Park area during the time period of August 1 – December 31, 2021. The artist may submit up to TWO pieces of art and must have a photograph documenting the artist creating their art in the park along with a date and time for the photograph. All artwork must be suitably framed with proper backing. Wire hangers or a suitable hanging device must be attached and ready to hang. All work must be original in concept and design – art kits and copies of other artists' work, published images or copyrighted photographs are NOT accepted. Acceptance and placement of art is at the final discretion of the CVCA. All artwork to be hung must be framed and equipped with hanging wire or other appropriate safe device. Maximum glass size is 36" in either direction.
All exhibitors will sign an artist agreement to display their work at the Heyde Center for the Arts. Those artists that would like to sell their artwork must indicate their price(s) and understand that the CVCA/Heyde Center will take a 30% commission from the sale of the work. Payments for all work sold will be mailed to the artist shortly after the exhibition closes.
