59th Annual Spring Art Show

    By purchasing tickets, visiting our art galleries, or registering for classes, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By visiting the Heyde Center for the Arts, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold the Chippewa Valley Cultural Association, Inc. (dba Heyde Center for the Arts), the artists, the producers, or any of their affiliates, volunteers, employees, or contractors liable for any illness or injury.


    Registration Options

The Chippewa Valley Cultural Association/Heyde Center for the Arts and The Chippewa Herald welcome artists to submit their artwork to the 59th Annual Chippewa Herald Spring Art Show. The non-juried, community art exhibition includes original paintings, sculptures, photos, stained glass, mosaics, ceramics and other creative art forms from artists in the Chippewa Valley and beyond. The exhibit will run from Sunday, April 16 to Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Heyde Center for the Arts, 3 S. High St., Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Weekend hours are 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 3; Saturday, April 9; and Sunday, April 10. The exhibit closes at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 15.

The Opening Reception will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023. An Art Demonstration will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the Show Awards will be given out at 2:00 p.m.

REGISTER

Entry Information - All work must be original in concept and design. It must be submitted by the artist signing the work. Copies of other artwork, photographs, published images, advertisements or patterns ARE NOT ACCEPTED EVEN WITH permission of the original artist or the original photographer (unless the artist is the photographer). No art “kits” submissions are acceptable. The acceptance and placement of art is at the discretion of the spring art show committee.

Registration Submission Date: Friday, March 24 at 4:00 p.m. (no late entries)

Art Drop Off: Monday, April 10 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Tuesday, April 11 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Spring Art Show Opening Reception Sunday, April 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Artist Demonstration: 1:00 p.m. Award Ceremony: 2:00 p.m.

Spring Art Show Exhibit Dates and Times

Sunday, April 16 to Friday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m.
Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Galleries open one hour before a performance.

Art Pick Up

Friday, April 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Monday, May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

STRICTLY NO EARLY PICK UP ALLOWED! Late pick ups may be charged a storage fee. Artists insisting on taking their work early will not be allowed in future exhibits.

All artwork to be hung must be framed and equipped with hanging wire or suitable hanging/display device. Artwork with hanging or display devices that are considered unsafe, insufficient, or hazardous will not be accepted. For framed artwork with a glass cover, the maximum glass size 36 inches in either direction.

The entry fee is $15 for current Chippewa Valley Cultural Association (CVCA) members and $30 for non-CVCA members. With the payment of the entry fee, each artist can submit up to three pieces. If the artist would like to sell their artwork, all sales will be handled by the CVCA. The CVCA receives a 30% commission of all art sold during the exhibit. The CVCA holds limited liability for loss or damage. A copy of the policy is available upon request.

Exhibit Admission

Admission to view the artwork is free; however, donations to the CVCA are greatly appreciated! These donations help cover general operating costs, publicity and advertising costs as well as upkeep of the building.

Cash awards

Local judges choose seven of the art submissions for outstanding merit and originality. Three cash awards are given: the Holly Meier Award, the Hugh Mandelert Award and the Beryl Ouimette Award. Three honorable mention awards are given as well. A student award ($50) is given by the Hugh Mandelert Art Society.
